License Cancellations
The FCC has cancelled the license of Bethany Divinity College and Seminary’s 91.3 WVOB Dothan AL. WVOB lost its former tower site in late 2018 subsequently holding CPs for three other sites, never filing a license to cover for the first site applied for in 2019. It went silent in June 2022 claiming the loss of site and seeking a second CP for the same site. The station never filed a resumption of operation not responded to an FCC inquiry in February 2024 but then filed a license to cover and an STA to operate with low power due to a transmitter failure in April 2024 claiming it began operating at a third site on in September 2022 but at reduced power. Following multiple objections and FCC inquiries, the licensee admitted that it built the facilities in the 2019 application prior to being granted authority, never filed a license to cover for the 2022 application, timely filed STA requests for the low power operations, or filing the resumption of operation.
The FCC concluded that that because the station lost access to its original site in 2018 and never returned there it exceeded over one year of not operating legally until 2022.
Digital Notifications
After operating in digital only mode since September 2023, Crawford Broadcasting Southern Gospel 1260 WYDE Birmingham AL has returned to hybrid digital mode. WYDE serves as the parent signal of 95.3 W237EK Birmingham and simulcasts 92.5 WYDE-FM Cordova AL. The move leaves Hubbard’s “The Gamut” 820 WWFD Frederick MD as the only all-digital AM currently operating.
FCC Actions
The FCC has entered into a Consent Decree with Mud Radio LLC’s 101.5 WMUD Brandon VT with a $2250 civil penalty for failing to timely file its license renewal application. WMUD was required to file its renewal application by January 2, 2025 but did not do so until February 6 which it claims was due to inadvertent oversight.
