The son of the man behind the Minnesota Valley Radio Company, with assets in Mankato, Minn., is believed to have perished in an avalanche in Alaska.
The incident occurred Tuesday, claiming the life of John David Linder.
Linder’s father John Linder, who is deceased, in 2010 was involved in a transaction with Randy Michaels’ Radioactive LLC. John David Linder was skiing with three men when the avalanche began.
All four were buried under the weight of the snow; they were near Girdword, Alaska, to the south of Anchorage.
According to local media reports in Mankato, Linder and the other men had been dropped off on top of a mountain by a helicopter and then skied down it.
Officials say the four men deployed safety gear; inclement weather hampered rescue efforts on Wednesday.
John Linder co-owned several licensees including Mankato Radio Group. Today, Mankato Radio owns several radio stations in southern Minnesota, including the four stations of Lakeland Media in Willmar. Managing Partner Matt Ketelsen leads these stations today as a part-owner.
John David Linder was an attorney licensed in Florida and a 2010 graduate of the University of Miami Law School. Following his father’s death, he took on ownership and later added Ketelson family members as business partners, becoming more of a quiet partner in the operation.
