Another Hit to the Radio Industry: Navigating the Aftermath of Layoffs
Another wave of layoffs has once again shaken the radio industry, leaving talented professionals waking up today with a mix of emotionsshock, anger, confusion, and uncertainty about what comes next. Its an all-too-familiar story, yet each time it happens, it cuts just as deep.
For those affected, the first reaction is often disbelief. How could this happen after yearsor even decadesof dedication? The reality is that the radio industry, like many others, continues to evolve under financial pressures, corporate restructuring, and shifting audience habits. Unfortunately, these changes often come at the expense of the people who have made the industry what it is.
The Emotional Rollercoaster
If youre one of the many waking up to unemployment today, know that what youre feeling is normal. Layoffs can feel personal, even when theyre not. The uncertainty of what to do next can be overwhelming, but this moment does not define you. Its okay to take a breath, process whats happened, and give yourself the space to feel what you need to feel.
Why We Started Media Jobs Report
During the Country Radio Seminar (CRS) this year, I had the opportunity to speak with Joel Denver, the creator of All Access. I’ve always looked up to what Joel and his team created with All Access. I let him know that we started Media Jobs Report to HELP members of the radio industry. With the absence of All Access, it has made it challenging for professionals to find radio-specific job opportunities across multiple companies. Sure you can go company to company and look at their postings, but looking for a new gig is stressful enough. Our goal has been to fill this void by providing not only radio job listings but also opportunities across the broader media landscape. The lines between media sectors are increasingly blurred, with radio and television professionals alike producing digital content, including podcasts and videos.
To assist those affected by recent industry cuts, Media Jobs Report hosts over 1,700 job opportunities spanning radio, television, digital, sales, music industry, engineering, office staff, and internships. Our platform offers resources to practice interview skills and partners who can help with creating or refining resumes and cover letters. We want to emphasize that you are not alone; the industry has seen thousands of layoffs over the years, and many of your fellow professionals understand what you’re experiencing. We encourage you to reach out, network, and take proactive steps to get back on your feet. If there’s anything we can do at Media Jobs Report, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Whats Next?

2. Prioritize Your Mental Health
Layoffs are stressful, and its important to take care of yourself. Seek support from friends, family, or even professional counselors if needed. Remember, your career is a part of your identity, but it does not define your worth.
3. Explore Job Listings
With over 1700 opportunities currently listed, make sure you regularly browse our extensive job listings to find opportunities that align with your skills and career goals. We add new jobs every day.

6. Enhance Interview Skills
Take advantage of our interview practice resources to boost your confidence and performance. Practice interviewing with a mentor or friend. Have them ask questions that you don’t know in advance. You’ll perform better under pressure if you have plenty of practice.
7. Reconnect with Your Network
The radio industry is a tight-knit community. Reach out to former colleagues, mentors, and industry contacts. Let people know youre looking for opportunities. Whether it’s in radio or a related field, your experience and skills are valuable.
8. Attend Virtual Events
Participate in webinars and workshops to stay updated on industry trends and best practices. Check out the schedule for Radio Rendezvous. Their next event is coming up Thursday, March 13th. It’s an opportunity to join a virtual mixer with radio broadcasters from around the country. Hosted by Joel Denver of All Access Enterprises and Seth Resler of Community Marketing Revolution.
9. Explore Other Media Opportunities
The skills developed in radiocontent creation, audience engagement, advertising sales, and productionare highly transferable. Consider exploring roles in podcasting, digital media, voiceover work, streaming platforms, marketing, or public relations.
10.Consider Freelance and Consulting Work
If a full-time job isnt immediately available, consider offering freelance or contract services. Many stations are operating with reduced staff and might be open to hiring former employees on a temporary basis. Additionally, voiceover work, social media management, or content consulting can provide income while you search for a permanent position.
11. Stay Informed
