Rivers’ radio career began at a young age when he started a radio station in a janitor’s closet at his high school. Moves through Boston and Baltimore eventually led him to Seattle, where his show aired on 99.9 KISW, 102.5 KZOK, and 95.7 KJR-FM.
In addition to his morning show, Rivers created Twisted Tunes albums that included several releases, including the well-known, “The Twelve Pains of Christmas.”
Paul Anderson, who served as Rivers’ manager and friend for nearly 30 years, provided Barrett Media with a video produced for Rivers’ 2023 Radio Hall of Fame Induction.
Rivers hosted his final radio show in 2014 on Oldies 95.7 KJR, which coincided with his 25th anniversary in Seattle radio.
Rivers is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons Andrew and Keith (wife Leanne); and granddaughters Hazel and Georgia Rivers. He is the eldest of seven siblings and is survived by sisters Beth Doornweerd, Katherine Kenney, Mary Redman, Patty Tedford, and brothers Michael Rivers and Richard Rivers.

A private service is this Friday in Claremont, New Hampshire. A memorial service in Seattle will be announced later.
This past January Rivers’ career and cancer battle were the subject of a Seattle Times feature.
