It seems like a contradiction. For the last 30 years, we have encouraged our morning personalities to stop relying on fake voices and canned bits and share more of themselves with the audience, sometimes including their struggles. But last year at CRS, a survey from the research firm Smith Geiger encouraged broadcaster caution about sharing personal problems or bad moods on the air, lest they bring down the listener who was depending on relief from their own bad day.
