The Radio's Dial

They said MTV killed the radio star.
MTV is dead. Radio is still here.

The Story

Where This Started

I'm Boz — Charles Bosworth. Program director, talk host, Silver Mic finalist, and someone who has never been able to fully walk away from this industry, no matter how many times the industry tried to walk away from itself.

I started in radio in 1989 as an intern at a small community station on Montreal's South Shore. Over the next three decades, I worked 14 stations across 4 states and 2 countries — Hot AC, Active Rock, News/Talk, every format. I've been on the air, behind the glass, in the programming chair, and in the GM's office. I've hired talent, fired talent, built morning shows, and rebuilt stations. I've also watched a lot of people declare radio dead.

They were wrong every time.

The RIB Cage didn't start here. It started decades ago as The Radio Industry Blog, published under my on-air name Charlie Profit at cabradio.com. It was a place to think out loud about an industry I loved — and to connect with others who felt the same way.

Over the years, staying informed about the radio industry became genuinely difficult. Not because there wasn't enough information — there was too much. Too many sites. Too many newsletters. Too many tabs. Joel Denver and the team at All Access did a remarkable job with their news briefs, but Joel had a staff. This is a one-man show.

So I built the thing I wanted to exist: a single place that aggregates the most important radio industry news from across the web, links directly to the original sources, and lands in your inbox every Friday morning. No rewrites. No spin. Just the stories, sourced from the people who reported them.

There are a lot of smart, informed voices in this industry. My job is to make sure you hear them — without having to go looking.

Every Signal, One Feed.

Radio has a heartbeat unlike any other medium — because it's built on relationships. With the listener. With the advertiser. With the community. With the industry itself.

That's not nostalgia. That's a competitive advantage that streaming platforms and algorithm-driven feeds still haven't figured out how to replicate. Radio is local. Radio is live. Radio is human.

We need better thought leaders to bring radio into the future — people who understand what makes it irreplaceable while being honest about what needs to change. The Radio's Dial exists to make sure those voices reach the people who need to hear them.

The Format

The Brief, Not the Commentary

The Radio's Dial is designed to inform, not editorialize. Full transparency: the curation is algorithmic and the summaries are AI-generated. Charles built the system, chose the 82 sources, and stands behind what it produces — but the machine does the heavy lifting so the brief lands in your inbox every Friday without fail.

The brief links directly to original sources. The goal is to surface the news, not replace the outlets that report it.

That said, there's a human behind this. Occasionally — when something in the industry demands a closer look — a monthly commentary will be published alongside the brief. When that happens, it will be clearly labeled as editorial opinion, distinct from the aggregated news.

Aggregate

82 sources across trade publications, independent voices, FCC feeds, company newsrooms, and podcasts — updated daily.

Curate

Every Friday, the week's most significant stories are selected and delivered with context on how they connect.

Brief

One email. The week in radio. No fluff, no filler, no paywall.

Connect

Every story links to the original source. My job is to surface the news, not replace the outlets that report it.
